Our Green Commitment
At Citizen Printing green in not a color, it is a way of thinking, a way of doing business and a way of setting goals for the future.

Goals accomplished:

Citizen Printing runs low to no VOC vegetable base inks and low to no VOC water based solvents and chemicals through out the plant.

We work every day to lower our energy consumption through new and better equipment and practices. By updating equipment and changing our illumination to T-8 lighting, we have cut our electrical consumption by more than fifty percent in the past five years.

Through recycling, re-using and better planning, we have reduced our impact on the landfill crisis 80% in the past five years.  Not only do we recycle all scrap paper, card board and other printed materials, we also have a “scratch pad” supply chain and “donation” stacks that are 100% unprocessed post consumer paper waste.

Citizen recycles over 195 tons of scrap paper and 15,000 lbs. of aluminum plates annually.  On a separate plane when appropriate, we encourage and guide our customers toward recycled, certified ecologically manufactured and recycled papers, and non-forest stocks made with alternative fibers like hemp, bamboo, coffee etc.  We also introduced to Northern Colorado a “seed embedded” recycled paper which can be planted.

When possible we collaborate with “like minded” companies and suppliers which have proved to us in past years to take their commitment seriously to improving their sustainability.  These companies often join us in communicating to our customers and employees better practices for improving our environment.  Our staff attends annual sustainability programs and vendor shows presented by our many suppliers.  These shows feature the very latest in recycled papers, supplies and equipment developed specifically to reduce environmental impact.  On a closer level, our employees areas are furnished with recycling receptacles for paper and aluminum, we also furnish re-useable dinnerware in our lunch room.  We have installed bike racks and provide a dry heated area in winter for bicycles. 

We have reduced the mileage traveled for our deliveries by over fifty percent in the past five years
through better planning, the use of intermodal loads, back hauling, and electronic communications.
